"Sky Music"

I took this old tin can
And started tyin’ it tight
To the string that I use
When I’m flyin’ my kite
Then I flew that kite
With the tin can tied to it
Trying to hear the sky music
Hope it’s not too high to do it
Put the can to my ear
Can I hear anything?
Will the string bring down
The sound of bird wings?
Then I heard words sing
A song in cloud accent
It’s one cloud askin’
The other about back when
They both used to go to
Cloud shaping school together
That’s where they learned to make their
Cloud shapes the coolest ever
Like a rabbit that turns into
A tree with swaying branches
Then the way it dances,
It turns into a preying mantis
But one cloud stopped making shapes
You could recognize
Instead of the memorized lessons,
He would step aside
And make his own weird shapes
He called it “abstract”
He said they’d make the atmosphere great
But the class laughed
It got him worried so
Sometimes’ he’d flurry snow
Or rain – that’s how clouds cry
When they’re feeling very low
But everywhere he’d go
The sky was his canvas
Smilin’ and sky-writin’
In his own language
Tryin’ to communicate with
People on the ground
Even his teachers had told him –
To each his own sound
Then one day, he passed a farm and stopped
Cause the barn rocked
With a party that sounded like an alarm clock…

I’m up, I’m up
I need some more sleep
Five more minutes

You wouldn’t believe the wild shapes
And how fancy it gets
At the once-a-year cloud shaping
Championships
Whoever gets pointed at
By the most human kids
Gets to sit beside
The moon at the next lunar eclipse.
Wow! That’s a big prize
But it’s a big sky
And there’s lots of clouds
Tryin’ to catch all of those kids’ eyes
And all of them been practicin’
Turn into a dragon, then a unicorn
Master the new form, then turn back again
Plenty of shapes, monkeys and apes, bunches of grapes,
Super heroes flyin’ with humongous capes
And down on the ground
There were childrens of all types
Playin’ ball, ridin’ small bikes,
Flyin’ old kites
What s sight,
Bright sunlight shinin’
Giving clouds a silver lining
One cloud’s still deciding
Should he try to make
The shapes people like
Or should he make the shapes he loves
And dreams about when he sleeps at night.
Yo, that’s a hard decision
There’s lots of competition
And he’d love to be the one
Sittin’ next to the moon eclipsin’
But his mind is made up
So he makes the shapes he loves
Crazy stuff, zigzag through the air
Like a ladybug
Circles and squares like
Martian graffiti
Scribbles flowin’ everywhere
Like a garden of seaweed
All the children raise their arms, shocked
Then an airplane flies by,
That sounds like an alarm clock…

Wow, those are crazy dreams man…
I wonder what happened to the cloud?
I wonder if he won?
What do you think?
