| "The Whalephant"
You ever go down to the beach, stare at the waves
Wind on your cheeks, smile on your face
Feel a sense of peace right in your heart
Well, here’s a little story about where that feeling starts.
The story of the whalephant -half elephant – half whale.
Huge body, four fins, long trunk, flat tail.
She’s been around forever and remembers everything
And the most incredible, unforgettable song is what she sings.
The energy of it rumbles like an earthquake in love
The melody never fumbles, but she just makes it up.
Now all throughout the ocean, she’ll swim and splash for days
But her favorite thing is to sing to the beat of the crashin’ waves.
So she swims to the beach and sings to the beat
Of the same waves that roll up and kiss your feet.
Her song is so deep, it’s kinda hidden from your ears
But you feel that sense of peace even if you barely hear.
The whalephant sings the ocean blues
You may not know when she’s close to you.
The whalephant sings the ocean blues
You may not know when she’s close to you.
See, the whalephant was the first creature on earth
So she remembers dinosaur words – it’s easy for her.
She speaks the language of the dirt, the language of the plants
The language of the monkeys, turtles, cheetas, and the ants
She understands the dance, how life works together.
It’s been that way forever, and it’ll be that way forever.
She knew it and never ever met someone that didn’t know it.
Till humans came along into this world and tried to own it.
They called it all for their own-they wanted it for their home
They didn’t respect the rest – I guess they thought they were alone.
They couldn’t understand when plants and animals were speakin’
And pretty soon, they couldn’t understand each other, even.
That’s real sad, it made the whalephant feel bad.
How awful it felt – she wanted to help with everything she had.
But she couldn’t walk on land, plus they couldn’t understand her.
And so she floated along and sang her song to find an answer.
The whalephant sings the ocean blues
Cause she don’t know what she’s supposed to do.
The whalephant sings the ocean blues
Cause she don’t know what she’s supposed to do.
The whalephant was angry, sad, confused, and frustrated.
Ever had that feeling before? I have, and I just hate it.
Plus waitin’s never fun, there is a job to be done.
But negative thinkin’ never helps, man, it robs everyone.
So she tried to stay cool singin’ the whole day through
And at night, shimmering in the moonlight, she sang, too.
While thinking and singin’ and drinkin’ seawater and kelp
She kept blinking back tears, couldn’t see how she could help.
Then along came a tortoise and a porpoise with a purpose
Who noticed she was hopeless but told her on the surface
That people at the beaches whenever she sang songs
They all became calm and stayed all day long.
And walked away with peace in their hearts and a reason to start.
Respecting plants and animals and even the sharks.
The whalephant smiled and sang so loud you couldn’t help it
If you were at the beach that day, I guarantee you felt it.
The whalephant sings the ocean blues
Cause now she knows what she’s supposed to do.
The whalephant sings the ocean blues
Cause now she knows what she’s supposed to do.
